Is Chick-fil-A Good for Soccer Players?
I’ve been noticing an influx of soccer players eating at Chick-fil-A lately. This includes my son and his friends so I wanted to look into it some more. Honestly, that’s all they want to get after games.
In my personal opinion, I think it’s a better alternative to its fast food counterparts. McDonalds, Burger King, and Wendy’s has nothing over Chick-fil-A! Just an opinion though.
Although it is very tasty, does that make it good for soccer players? It’s convenient, has a simple menu, and has some healthy options. Let’s explore it some more.
Please note, I’m not a huge fan of fast food (and don’t want to promote it) but many soccer families are on the go so it’s not realistic to eat healthy all the time.
It’s Good But Does That Make it Right?
As a soccer player, you need to maintain a balanced diet to support your body’s active needs. Overall, you should TRY to eat as healthy as you can.
As a Dad to a teen, I realize this is very difficult to do. We are always on the go and their cravings kick in every 7 minutes.
All we can do is help manage their eating habits.
I try to make sure my sons eat healthy before practice and games. I loosen up a bit after the activity and will sometimes splurge on fast food. When I say “sometimes”, I mean about once every two months.
I don’t think fast food once-in-a-blue-moon is bad as long as they eat healthy-ish most of the time.

Chick-fil-A Menu Options
When it comes to fueling your body for soccer games, it’s important to make smart choices.
Chick-fil-A offers a variety of menu items that can be both nutritious and delicious.
Here’s a breakdown of some healthier options and items you may want to avoid:
Healthier Options
- Grilled Chicken Sandwich: This sandwich is a great source of protein and has fewer calories than the classic Chick-fil-A sandwich. Pair it with a side salad for a well-rounded meal.
- Grilled Chicken Cool Wrap: This wrap is packed with veggies and grilled chicken, making it a nutritious option. It’s also a great choice if you’re on the go.
- Fruit Cup: If you’re looking for a sweet treat, the fruit cup is a great option. It’s packed with fresh fruit and is a good source of vitamins and fiber.
Items to Avoid (Especially Before a Game)
- Milkshakes: While they may be tempting, Chick-fil-A’s milkshakes are high in sugar and calories. Opt for a healthier beverage option, such as water or unsweetened tea.
- Fried Chicken Sandwich: While it may be so tasty, the classic Chick-fil-A sandwich is high in calories and fat. If you’re craving chicken, opt for the grilled option instead.
- Waffle Fries: While they may be a fan favorite, waffle fries are high in calories and sodium. If you’re looking for a side dish, opt for a side salad or fruit cup instead.
Final Conclusions
For players and families on-the-go after a soccer game or practice, Chick-fil-A can be a convenient option.
They have brand appeal among younger kids so they will enjoy it more.
To reiterate, I think fast food, Chick-fil-A especially, is terrible as long as it’s not eaten consistently. If you are eating it 2-3 times per week then you may have a small problem on your hands.
For young athletes, I think getting the right amount of veggies, fruits, carbs, etc. is more important.
Also, make sure they drink plenty of water!
