Who Is Nimfasha Berchimas?
Nimfasha Berchimas is currently playing for the U.S. Youth National Team (USYNT) and Charlotte FC’s first-team.
A lot has happened in two years for Berchimas:
- Signed homegrown contract in 2022
- Led the U.S. in scoring in the FIFA Under-17 World Cup
- Named a finalist for 2023 Chipotle U.S. Soccer Young Male Player of the Year
- Made his professional debut in February of 2024
To kick off the 2024/2025 MLS season, Nimfasha Berchimas made his debut as the ninth youngest player in history!

Nimfasha Berchimas Background & Current Team
Berchimas was born in Burundi on February 22, 2008, and moved to the United States as a youngster. His family eventually settled in High Point, North Carolina.
He started playing youth soccer with a club called NC Fusion out of Bermuda Run, North Carolina. This is where he caught the eyes of Charlotte FC Academy scouts.
He played with the academy team for two more years and then signed a homegrown contract in November 2022. At the ripe age of 14 years and 268 days old, Nimfasha became the sixth youngest player to sign an MLS professional contract.

You’ve probably heard the name Nimfasha Berchimas floating around in the soccer world lately. Maybe it’s on social media or Apple TV but it’s for good reason.
Standing at 5’8″, he is a dynamic forward who can make plays and score. He is known for his speed, on-ball skills, and ability to get everyone involved.
In plain English…the hype is real.
It’s no wonder that Berchimas has been dubbed as one of the most exciting young players to watch in the soccer world. With his impressive skills and natural talent, it’s clear that Berchimas has a bright future ahead of them.
