Cavan Sullivan Makes MLS Record Debut
At 14 years and 293 days, Cavan Sullivan became the youngest player ever to play in a Major League Soccer (MLS) game.
The historic night broke the record from 2004 when Freddy Adu became the youngest player to enter an MLS game at the age of 14 years and 306 days.
The Philly Union youngster took on the New England Revolution last night (July 17, 2024). The Union, up 5-1, subbed in Sullivan at the 85th minute.
In his limited time, Sullivan made positive plays. In one play, he was able to attack the Revs D and get a shot on goal.
It will be interesting to see if he continues to log more minutes. The Union are at the bottom of the table so this may give the youngster a better chance at playing more minutes.
This has been an extremely busy year for Sullivan. He made noise for the USYNT, at MLS Next events, and MLS Next Pro.
Oh, he also signed with Manchester City but won’t be eligible to play for them until he’s 18.
If you want to learn more about the Philly star, I’ve written an article about his background and what makes him so special.
There’s a lot of pressure on this young player and we can only hope the best for him! In my opinion, he has everything (physically and mentally) to continue to be a star ๐
