You’ll Rarely Have the Perfect Shot
You’ll rarely have the perfect shot in soccer so just take it!
I’m not sure what it is but one of the things I’m noticing among youth soccer players is that they are dribbling too much within the 18-yard box. They want to find a better opportunity to shoot.
Do you know what usually happens? 9 out of 10 times that opportunity passes by because more defenders get in the mix and there are other options.
If you think you have a shot, just take it! It’s better than no shot.
If teammates are yelling at you to pass but you think you can score, try to score.
If a ball is rolling to you and you see an opening in the net, strike it.
If you are a defender but playing up because of a corner kick, try to find the back of the net.
This also teaches an intangible skill…how to react if a split-second opportunity presents itself. This is really important in soccer and any other sport.
Shoot your shot.
