About the Development Player League (DPL)
The Development Player League (DPL) is a national league focused on girls’ youth soccer. The league is designed to expand the player pool for participating clubs and create a highly professional training environment and competitive model for aspiring soccer players.
The league is aligned with the Girls Academy (GA) and encourages clubs to compete and grow, maximizing the development of their players.
The DPL provides a linear pathway for female players who show the potential to make the jump to the GA, which is the highest level of girls’ soccer in the nation.
According to the DPL’s website, the mission of the league is “to develop the player and empower the person in a purposeful and memorable environment.” This is achieved through superior experiences that allow players to showcase their talent, discover collegiate opportunities, and create a community around the game.
One of the unique features of the DPL is the recently launched DPL OPEN, which serves as a proving ground for teams to compete for a championship. This new integrated event format will start in the 2023-2024 season and is designed to provide even more opportunities for players to develop and showcase their skills.
Participating clubs can benefit from the league’s standards-driven approach and the opportunity to compete against top-level competition.
Overall, the Development Player League is a valuable league for aspiring soccer players and clubs looking to develop their talent and compete at a high level. With its commitment to superior experiences and player development, the DPL is poised to continue making a positive impact on the sport of soccer in the United States.
