What is My Unique Angle as a Player? Find It and Own It.
Every soccer player has something that stands out about them. It might be their speed, power, work rate, or game intelligence.
You bring something to the team. You need to find what that something is and own it.
It’s best to double down on your strengths. At the same time, gradually work on your weaknesses.
For example, when I played, I was quick and agile but I also wanted to be powerful. I was in my head and trying to be something I wasn’t (a big, physical player).
When I realized that my quickness made me a better player, I embraced it. I let go of trying to shoulder kids.
Instead, I learned that I can maneuver with the best of them. I could take players one-on-one. I could find open space with my speed.
This 👆 is when things took off for me.
Self-Awareness is Key
Being self-aware of what you are good at and what you aren’t is the key to maximizing your potential.
You need to do some digging and figure out what makes you unique.
What is special about you that will help your soccer team? Embrace it. Own it. Live it.
When every player learns this and comes together as one, special things happen.
Any good coach will also embrace your strengths. They’ll put the puzzle pieces together for the greater good of the team.
Once you can figure this part of your game out, your development will take off like a rocket ship.
Are You Ready?
I give you permission to live your best soccer life. Sometimes this is what we need.
Don’t hold back from reaching your truest potential. There’s a lot of good on the other side!
Don’t look at anyone but yourself to navigate what your strengths are. Look inward.
Look to be your best version. It will be contagious…I promise.
