Seacoast United Phantoms Win the 2024 USL League Two Championship
The Seacoast United Phantoms beat Peoria City Soccer, 3-2, to win the 2024 USL League Two Championship.
Last night’s match was nothing short of entertaining. Both teams came out aggressive to score.
Led by their offensive attack, the Phantoms put the pressure on Peoria’s goalkeeper, Samy Slimi. Taig Healy (finals MVP), tied it at 1-1 after falling and (somehow) getting back on his feet to strike it in the back of the net.
The two teams exchanged the next two goals. It could’ve been anyone’s game at this point.
At 2-2, the game extended into 30 minutes of extra time.
In extra time, the Phantoms came out aggressive. After Phantom’s Bilal Hersi found the back of the net, the team from NH “parked the bus”. Peoria City Soccer created a few opportunities but ultimately came up short.
With an impressive 3,000+ fans at Shea Stadium, both teams showed why they earned to be in the finals. It could’ve gone either way.
Congrats to Coach Alex Ryan and the rest of the Phantoms on their incredible season! Before cutting the nets, the Phantoms dominated their division by going 13-0-1.
Although heartbreaking in the moment, the coaches and players from Peoria CS should be proud of their accomplishments. They assembled a group of talented players who work well together and earned their road to the finals.
