Established in 2020, the roster of MLS NEXT teams continues to grow. For the 2023/2024 season, there are 677 MLS NEXT teams representing 143 soccer clubs across the U.S. and Canada.

As part of the MLS NEXT league, over 15,000 U-13 to U-19 boys soccer players compete each year at the highest level of youth soccer in the United States.

Whether it’s homegrown talent or “late bloomers” making a name for themselves, MLS NEXT produces great talent.

My Son’s Experience with MLS NEXT

My son has been playing in the MLS NEXT league for three seasons. He absolutely loves the training, games, and different national showcases.

The training aspect depends on the coach and club but MLS NEXT teams typically get highly qualified coaches.

He also likes how most of his team stays together each year. Sure, there are kids that will come and go but for the most part, the core players are still there. Through the competition, he’s developed some amazing friendships.

As a parent, I think the league is a good fit for my son. He’s always been super competitive and has a drive to become better. Soccer is his outlet and I’m willing to invest in his happiness and enjoyment.

MLS NEXT Pro Teams

MLS NEXT PRO was launched in March 2022 by Major League Soccer (MLS). It is a professional men’s soccer league that completes the pro pathway from MLS NEXT.
