Get to Know Rising Star Olivia Moultrie
Olivia Moultrie is a midfielder for Portland Thorns FC and a key contributor for the U.S. Women’s National Team.
She has been in the national spotlight for female soccer for a while. Here are some accolades in her early career:
- 2017 (Age 11): Youngest player to commit to a college and accept a scholarship offer.
- 2019 (Age 13): Become the youngest female player to turn pro.
- 2021 (Age 15): Became the youngest player to play in a NWSL.
- 2022 (Age 16) Became the youngest player to score a goal in a NWSL game.
Most recently, she had an impressive showing at the 2024 CONCACAF W Gold Cup.

Olivia Moultrie Background
Olivia Moultrie was born on September 18, 2005 in Utah to K.C. and Jessica Moultrie. Both of her parents were college athletes.
She was raised in the Canyon Country district of Santa Clarita, California.
“Soccer Prodigy”
Moultrie started training in soccer when she was four years old and quickly showed signs of being a soccer star.
She played for the Southern California Blues and was the youngest player ever to play in the Girls’ Development Academy.
At the age of 11, she committed to play college soccer at the University of North Carolina. This made her the youngest player ever to make such a commitment.
However, she ultimately gave up her scholarship offer and decided to turn professional instead.
Professional Debut
At age 15, she became the youngest player to play in a National Women’s Soccer League season-regular game.
She signed a three-year contract with the Portland Thorns and played in three games during the 2020 season. She has since renewed her contract for an additional three years.
In 2021, Moultrie became the youngest player ever to sign a Nike endorsement deal. Quite an accomplishment for a soccer player!
Professional & National Milestones
Portland Thorns FC
Moving on to her young professional career, she is currently playing for the NWSL team, Portland Thorns FC.
She has been progressing year-by-year. Her stats for the past three seasons include:
- 2021: 9 Games; 0 Goals; 1 Assist
- 2022: 15 Games; 3 Goals; 4 Assists
- 2023: 22 Games; 2 Goals; 3 Assists
USWNT
Wearing #13 for the red, white, and blue, Olivia has had four appearances (caps) and two goals.
At age 18, she was rostered on the U.S. Senior team. She earned her first cap on December 2, 2023 against China.
In her first start, she scored two goals against Dominican Republic. This was in the group stage of the 2024 CONCACAF W Gold Cup. The USWNT ended up winning the tournament and Moultrie was a key contributor.
