CBS Sports and USL Sign Deal to Air League Games Through 2027 Season
On November 7, 2023, CBS Sports and the United Soccer League (USL) announced a new agreement that will allow CBS to air and stream 100 USL matches annually through the 2027 USL Championship and USL League One season.
The USL Championship and League One games will be covered on CBS linear and streaming platforms, including CBS Sports Network, the CBS Television Network, Paramount+, and the CBS Sports Golazo Network.
This is exciting news for United States soccer fans who get to watch unhyped quality soccer from their living room.
This partnership is a clear indication of the USL’s growth and impact on domestic soccer. The deal provides more national TV exposure and platforms for the USL to tell stories about their players, clubs, and fans than ever before.
The CEO of USL, Alec Papadakis, said, “CBS Sports has become a destination for soccer fans in America, and we are thrilled to bring to their platforms the unique soccer experience that only the USL provides.”
The addition of USL to CBS Sports’ premium soccer portfolio is expected to make the exciting action of the USL more easily available to fans than ever before and elevate the league with coverage across CBS Sports platforms.
USL is the longest-running professional soccer organization in the United States, originally founded in 1991. The USL Championship and USL League One are the highest men’s professional tiers in USL.
Overall, this partnership between CBS and USL is expected to take the leagues and the game of soccer to new heights over the next four years. The USL will benefit from increased national exposure, and the national network will continue to be the go-to destination for soccer fans in the United States.
What can you expect from USL games? I’ve seen many USL games and it’s typically young and talented players who are trying to make a name for themselves. For many players, USL can be the bridge from college ball to a Major League Soccer (MLS) contract.
