3 Themes For Every Soccer Player Who Wants to Get Better
In today’s crazy world of information, players and parents can get caught up in many topics. Most of it is just noise.
From how to kick a ball to body feints to what they need to do to perform well. There’s so much info out that it can get overwhelming!
Heck, there are even 693 articles on this site. I don’t expect you to read them all ๐
So, if I could distill everything into three themes, here’s what they are…
I love themes because you can keep them in mind at all times. You don’t have to memorize it. It can also drive many other things.
- Lead With Your Gut: The best way to maximize your potential is to play with intuition. More than likely, you already know what to do. It’s your thinking and overthinking that’s stopping you from doing it. Lead with your gut because it already knows. You’ll play faster and more direct.
- Fun Intensity: If you want to become an elite player, you must show emotion. Playing with intensity can make you push yourself. But, sometimes you can take it too seriously. That’s where the “fun” comes in. Playing with fun intensity will keep you going when things get tough. Just try it for a practice or game.
- Showing Up is Better Than Perfection: You are supposed to mess up in sports. That’s the beauty of it. Perfect doesn’t exist. If it does, it’s almost equal to winning the lottery. Instead of trying to pursue perfection, show up and get 1% better. The incremental will be more enjoyable.
Let your play be influenced by your gut. Show intensity but have fun. Show up to get better.
