Jefferson Cup Venue Information
Field Locations
The 2024 Jefferson Cup Soccer Tournament will be held in various field locations in and around Richmond, Virginia.
Here are the field assignment links:
Rules and Regulations
Understanding the basic rules and regulations for your age group is important. I’ve broken down the most important things to know.
Game Duration
Below is the total duration of the games for each age group. There will also be a 5-minute halftime.
- U9, U10 (7v7): 60 minutes
- U11, U12 (9v9): 60 minutes
- U13, U14 (11v11): 70 minutes
- U15, U16, U17, U18, U19 (11v11): 80 minutes
Note that extended or stoppage time will not occur unless it’s decided otherwise by the Tournament Director.
Roster Size
All players must be registered with their respective state association or US Club Soccer. The maximum roster size is:
- U9-U10: 14 players
- U11-U12: 18 players
- U13-U19: 26 players can be registered but only 18 players are allowed to suit up for the game
Five guest players per team are allowed for all age groups. These players must be registered with US Club Soccer.
Players who play up an age group within the same club will not count towards the guest player maximums.
Substitutions
For all age groups, there will be unlimited substitutions but only made during the following times:
- U9-15: Goal kick, after a goal, halftime, beginning of OT, throw-in, or after a yellow card.
- An injured player (the other team will be able to make a substation at this time too)
Other Rules You Might Want to Be Aware Of
Here are some other rules you will want to keep in mind according to the official rules.
- A team that doesn’t have at least 7 eligible players will need to forfeit
- Size 4 ball will be used for U9-U12 games
- The home team (listed first) will wear light colored uniforms. But, it’s always a good idea to bring both kits.
- Offsides will be in play for all age groups
- Build out lines will be in play for U10 and younger
Good Luck to All the Teams Competing!
This is March Madness at its finest.
Good luck to all the players and coaches competing in this year’s tournament. Parents, enjoy this moment because it goes by fast.
If your team missed out, stay tuned for the 2025 application.
