Marc Hubbard leaves UNH for North Carolina State

Marc Hubbard, a local Durham, NH native, has been announced as the new head coach of North Carolina State men’s soccer team. Hubbard has been the men’s soccer coach at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) for the past nine seasons, leading the team to an impressive seven consecutive NCAA tournament appearances since 2017. He will be the 10th coach in Wolfpack men’s soccer program history.

During his tenure at UNH, Hubbard achieved a career record of 232-52-37, posting an overall record of 115-32-21 (.747). Under his leadership, the UNH men’s soccer team won four America East tournament championships and made seven NCAA tournament appearances. Previously, Hubbard coached at Division II Southern New Hampshire University for seven seasons. In both positions, Hubbard turned each program into an elite powerhouse in their respective divisions.

N.C. State Director of Athletics, Boo Corrigan, expressed his excitement about the future of the Wolfpack men’s soccer program under Hubbard’s leadership, stating that Hubbard’s teams have achieved consistent, sustainable success during his coaching career. Corrigan also praised Hubbard’s team-first culture, which he believes makes him the perfect fit for the Wolfpack.

Hubbard expressed his gratitude to UNH and SNHU for their unwavering support throughout his journey. He also expressed his excitement about taking on the role of the next NC State head men’s soccer coach and joining the Pack. Hubbard emphasized that building a culture based on teamwork, sacrifice, and commitment is non-negotiable for him. He plans to personally exemplify, instill, and breed a collective and caring effort along with a strong commitment to working hard for one another every day. He believes that good habits will shape the team into the best soccer players and the best version of themselves and ambassadors of the Wolfpack.

In 2023, Hubbard led the Wildcats to a 13-3-4 record and their fifth straight America East regular season championship, securing the No. 8 national seed in the NCAA Tournament, which is the highest seed in program history. UNH advanced to the round of 16 after defeating ACC foe Syracuse 3-0 in the NCAA second round. However, UNH then fell at home to the eventual champs, Clemson 1-0 in the round of 16.

Overall, Hubbard’s track record of success and commitment to building a team-first culture make him an excellent choice to lead the Wolfpack men’s soccer program. As a New Hampshire native and someone I personally respect, I hope the best for Marc.
