1v1 Attacking Drill
The 1v1 attacking drill focuses on beating a single defender and finishing.

Setup Drill
- Setup two goals about 30 yards from each other.
- Split the team into two groups behind each goal. And, each goal will have a goalkeeper.
- Each team will have at least 3 balls near by.
- Assign one team as a defensive team. These players will start with the ball.
- The attacking team do not need balls at this time.
Drill Instructions
- The defensive player with the ball passes to the first attacker and immediately closed down.
- The attacking player receives the ball and quickly tries to get by the defender.
- Once the attacker beats the defender, they try to finish on goal
- The drill ends if the defensive player steal the ball cleanly or the attacker shoots on goal
- Once play is over, the next defensive player passes to the next attacker
- Each attacker will go twice and the teams will switch from defender to attacker
Points of emphasis
- Each pass should be strong and on the ground
- First touch is critical to attack
- Change of pace is important to bait the defender
- Ensure the attacker drills directly at the defender (no wide angles) and they should work on their quick moves
