Di Noto and Forfor Earn Professional Contracts with Columbus Crew 2

Two rising stars from the Columbus Crew Academy have taken the next step in their professional careers, as Gianmarco Di Noto and Prince Forfor have been awarded MLS NEXT Pro contracts with Crew 2, extending through the 2026 season.
The pair becomes the latest Academy success stories to transition into the professional ranks, joining an impressive group of homegrown talent including Chase Adams, Brent Adu-Gyamfi, Anthony Alaouieh, Giorgio De Libera, Quinton Elliot, Nicolas Rincón, and Chris Rogers who have all made the leap to Crew 2.
Academy Director Brian Bliss emphasized the significance of these promotions: “These contract awards demonstrate our Academy’s effectiveness in nurturing elite talent and our commitment to creating a clear pathway from youth development to professional soccer. Both players have matured tremendously during their time in our system, and we’re excited to witness their continued growth with Crew 2.”
Di Noto’s Journey to Professional Soccer
The Michigan-born defender has already established himself as a key contributor for Crew 2, making his professional debut against Orlando City B on March 9, 2025. The Rochester Hills native has since accumulated 801 minutes across 10 starting appearances in MLS NEXT Pro competition this season, while also featuring twice in the Capybaras’ U.S. Open Cup run with 45+ minutes of action.
Di Noto’s path to Columbus began in March 2023 when he transferred from Liverpool FC International Academy Michigan to join the Crew Academy system. His development has caught the attention of U.S. Soccer, earning call-ups to U-15 and U-16 Youth National Team camps, including recent international friendlies against Argentina and Uruguay in May.
“Gianmarco brings both technical ability and tactical awareness to his game,” noted Bliss. “His Academy experience combined with international exposure has developed him into a versatile and impactful player. We’re looking forward to his continued progression within our organization.”
The 16-year-old’s dedication was recognized with the Club’s prestigious 2024-25 “Who Dares Wins” honor, awarded to the Academy player exemplifying courage, competitive spirit, and relentless self-improvement. He also represented the organization at the 2025 Generation adidas Cup Media Day as an emerging talent.
Forfor’s Rapid Rise
The Iowa native has made an immediate impact since joining from FC United DSM in January 2024. In his debut season with Crew 2, the 16-year-old forward has appeared in four matches, including one start, logging 216 minutes. His professional bow came against Inter Miami CF II on March 23, 2025, where he played 89 minutes.
Forfor’s exceptional talent has earned consistent recognition from U.S. Youth National Team selectors, including participation in the same Argentina and Uruguay friendlies alongside Di Noto at the U-16 level.
“Prince exemplifies what we want in our program – exceptional skill combined with outstanding character,” said Bliss. “His leadership qualities and clutch performances make him a valuable asset to Crew 2, and we’re committed to supporting his development both as an athlete and individual.”
The Des Moines product’s standout moment came at the 2025 MLS NEXT All-Star Game, where he claimed MVP honors after netting the decisive goal in the 76th minute of the East’s 4-3 victory. His tournament excellence continued at the 2025 U-16 GA Cup, where he earned Best XI recognition after scoring four goals during the team’s quarterfinal run.
Forfor’s positive influence extends beyond the field, earning the Club’s “Joy” award in consecutive seasons for his exemplary attitude and daily approach to training and competition.
