Apolo Marinch Signs with Orange County SC Signs Promising 15-Year-Old Striker

Orange County SC has officially welcomed teenage sensation Apolo Marinch, securing the 15-year-old forward’s signature on his inaugural professional deal. The dual-national talent, born to Slovenian and American heritage, represents one of the most coveted young players from the 2010 birth year and transitions from Columbus Crew 2.
Hailing from Willowick, Ohio, Marinch’s soccer journey began with local clubs FC Evolution and Croatia Juniors in Cleveland before advancing to the prestigious Columbus Crew Academy system.
His rapid ascent became evident in 2018 when he secured selection for the Crew’s U12 Generation Adidas Cup squad, subsequently climbing through each developmental tier with remarkable consistency.
This acquisition marks Orange County’s second significant youth investment in 2025, complementing their earlier capture of U.S. Youth National Team defender Tyson Espy this past August. Armed with Slovenian citizenship, Marinch aims to emulate the international success of former OCSC graduates Kobi Henry, Korede Osundina, and Milan Iloski, each of whom secured moves to prominent European institutions.
“We’ve identified Apolo as a truly special prospect whose skill set and composure far exceed typical expectations for someone his age,” explained President of Soccer Operations and General Manager Peter Nugent. “While only 15, his readiness to embrace professional competition is undeniable. Our established development framework will serve as the perfect foundation for his growth while positioning him for eventual European opportunities.”
Marinch etched his name in Columbus Crew 2 history this past March, becoming their youngest-ever debutant at precisely 14 years, 10 months, and 11 days old. His breakout spring continued with a maiden U.S. Youth National Team selection, participating in the BNT U-15 training camp held in West Palm Beach, Florida.
“Orange County SC’s track record with developing young talent made this decision straightforward,” Marinch shared regarding his transfer. “Their proven European pathway aligns perfectly with my ambitions. I’m thrilled to contribute during this crucial playoff period and look forward to collaborating with such a talented group of players and coaching staff in pursuit of team success.”
