Tom Condone Takes the Lead: From Soccer Coach to CEO
Tom Condone is now the official CEO of US Youth Soccer after being the temporary boss since February. US Youth Soccer helps kids across America play soccer and get better at the sport.
Quick Facts:
- Tom worked for US Youth Soccer since 2017 in different important jobs
- He used to lead soccer programs in Alabama and Tennessee
- He has many special coaching licenses and certifications
From Temporary to Permanent Leader
The US Youth Soccer Board of Directors decided to make Tom Condone the permanent CEO. Tina Rincon, who leads the Board, shared the good news.
Before becoming CEO, Tom was the Chief Soccer Officer for more than a year. He first joined US Youth Soccer in 2017 as the General Manager for the South Region. Later, in 2020, he became the Director of Sport Development.
Why Tom Was Chosen
I think Tom has the perfect background for this job. He understands soccer from the ground up – from coaching kids to running state programs. This experience helps him know what players, coaches, and families need.
“We have been very pleased with the leadership he is providing,” said Rincon. She mentioned that Tom has done great work since becoming the temporary CEO earlier this year. The state associations and other partners are expected to be happy about this decision too.
Tom’s Soccer Journey
Tom has worked in soccer for many years. He was the Executive Director of the Alabama Soccer Association from 2012 to 2017. Before that, he worked as the Technical Director for the Tennessee State Soccer Association from 2006 to 2012.
Education and Special Skills
Tom studied at several universities:
- He earned master’s degrees from Florida State University and Spring Hill College
- He has a bachelor’s degree from Monmouth University
He also has many important soccer coaching licenses and certifications, showing he really knows the game inside and out.
Looking to the Future
“I am honored to step into the role of Chief Executive Officer at US Youth Soccer,” said Condone. He wants to help all players, coaches, parents, and administrators build a stronger future for youth soccer across America.
In my opinion, having someone with both coaching experience and management skills will bring fresh ideas to US Youth Soccer. Tom’s deep understanding of soccer education could help improve how kids learn the game at all levels!
